Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

3 mixes that are actually worth your time

3 mixes that are actually worth your time

You ask: "Is it worth it?" We say: "Lemme work it."

Here's three very different mixes we really like, providing all your inner personas with a suitable soundtrack for the week(end).

Earl Sweatshirt stays inside

Earl Sweatshirt is still alive! He’s just staying inside, where we can’t see him. That’s all. Is he making music? Dunno. Is he making radio? Yes. We have empirical proof of this brazen assumption: a two-hour soundscape on Red Bull Radio that sounds exactly like what we imagine hanging out with Earl sounds like: him playing random tracks, putting echoes on everything, digging up a rare Jay-Z freestyle, mouthing and rapping along to weird stuff and throwing in some Drake and Lil Uzi Vert just for good measure. Thanks Earl! Let’s hang out again soon, ok?

Know Wave: The Michael K Show

Michael K plays a lot of tracks that sound really badass, like “Six blade knife”. But just how badass is a six blade knife, really? If you think about it, that’s just a Ninja star. Are people with Ninja stars really badass? I have my doubts. Please don’t look me up on the socials to throw Ninja darts and pointy stars and stuff at me just to prove me wrong, ok? Thanks.

Midland - As the city sleeps

This mix asks the question: ‘What happens when the city sleeps?' If you listen to the vibe of the music, the answer is: “People have a good-ass, mellow time, passing along life experiences and opening up about their true selves.” But if you’re actually out when the city sleeps, the answer is more likely: “Regrets are being created out of thin air and questionable decision-making.” Either way, it’s an interesting time for everyone.

[Tracklist Below] About the mix I’ve been thinking about a concept for a mix titled “As the city sleeps” for some time. Soundtracking one of my favourite times of day, between 4-5am, the witching hour, when you fall in love, spend time getting to know the things about your friends you never knew and when towns and cities feel like your own. When I was asked to contribute an hour of music to the inaugural “Monolithic Installation" (more info below), an immersive light installation in Bristol at Motion this summer it was the perfect catalyst to finally record the mix. I have gone back in and worked on it since and am happy to share it with you now. "As featured in the Monolithic Installation, 5,376 suspended LEDs, an immersive light installation at Motion Bristol's recent day party by Squid Soup & Ben Price, hear the other mixes here and look out for it on the road this year" - http://bit.ly/2mrsYLo Read more about it on Crack Mag - http://bit.ly/2D2yDAN Tracklist "La Haine” Intro/Outro Ian William Craig - Doubtshapes Bruised Skies - Low >>> Steve Reich - Come out Benoit Pioulard - An Image Apart from Ourselves Oneohtrix Point Never - Behind the Bank Body in the Thames - Brexit Music for a Film Dj Rum - Projection Vito Ricci - Inferno (Pt 2) >>> Dorian Corey - Excerpt from Paris is Burning Arthur Russell - Answers Me Suzanne Kraft & Jonny Nash - Hanging Glass Structure Demdike Stare - Black Sun Andés Zacco - Leit Luke Abbott - Ovals Cluster - Sowiesoso Sun Ra - Cosmo Drama (Prophetika 2) Cala Del Forno - Fast Moving Cars Radiohead - Meeting in the Aisle Mark Pritchard - Give it Your Choir (feat Bibio) Nick Drake - Horn Mark Hollis - The Colour of Spring
