Watch Amsterdam's OWN video for 'Youth'

OWN is the collective ego formed by Amsterdam notables Vic Crezée, Paul du Bois-Reymond and Patta Creative Director Vincent van de Waal. The three have collaborated before under various circumstances, all sharing the desire to investigate unknown territories.

Their second release ‘Youth’ is minimal, synth, sincere, infectious, danceable, pulsing, pushing forward “unimpeded by musical knowledge or experience in the classical sense”, going for unapologetic integrity and grit instead. Its lyrics are angsty but hopeful, going from “No Control. No Control. No Control.” to “Kids will be leaders I can tell.”

The video is full of scowls (we clocked a.o. Gee from Patta, Tirino Yspol and Ace Dia) populating the kind of tunnel party you really miss during these days of very un-metaphorical isolation.

And Vincent van de Waal menacingly practising yoga is the content we absolutely didn’t deserve, but very much needed.

‘Youth’ is a battle cry and guide to life wrapped in a 3:30 min anthem.
