The new How To Dress Well is decidedly more dancefloor-oriented than we’re used to, although the lyrics aren’t exactly made for easy chanting. In “Nonkilling 6 / Hunger” we get poetry about a dead child, existential confusion and a hopeful “When they say face facts, disobey that: there’s singing still left to be done” is immediately followed by “They still can’t name that fragrant wind rolling off a corpse.” Ok, Tom. That’s definitely the weirdest sentence I’ve ever danced to.
The video is a strobe-heavy experiment with Tom Krell bare-chested and lathered in goo, dancing and singing in a laser-pierced darkness.
From “The Anteroom”, out soon on Domino Records.
