Martine Rose, the British menswear designer who founded her namesake label in 2007, staged her first runway show in 2011 and successfully combined the development of her brand with a consultancy job at Balenciaga under Demna Gvasalia, is set to release her first collection for Nike.

Looking to UK & Middle America staples as tracksuits and “dad-sneakers”, Rose will be releasing a collection made-up of jogging pants and zip-ups, soccer jerseys and a reworked version of Nike’s MONARCH sneaker.

Rose said to Vogue UK that she pushed the Nike product team while developing her abstract concepts. An example being she wanted to take the upper (the top part of a shoe) as far as possible over the over the sole of the sneaker.

Martine Rose: “Nike was really brave. Nothing like this has ever been done before – the trainers are strange, beautiful objects.”

Referring to the tracksuits she designed, Rose said: “I imagined how I would have to alter the fit of Michael Jordan's tracksuit if I was to wear it.”

Adding to the “unchartered territory” route, the collection will be partly released on Craigslist. Sellers London Steve, Tesfa and Surya will all act as London stockists.
