Jay-Z 4:44

Jay-Z 4:44

Directed by TNEG, who used pieces of their documentary tackling issues like black representation to enrich the visuals and story of the 4:44 narrative.

While the song is (probably) a very personal apology about falling short of your promises, the video uses internet memes, leaks and clips mixed with dancing to evoke a sense of the world filtered through today's barrage of visuals and the hardships and challenges and emotional barriers that people have had to overcome in the past. It's both highly personal and universal, like all great art.
