Both 50 Cent's & Kanye West's albums officially dropped yesterday and although we have to wait untill Sunday for the final sales results of the first week, we already have some numbers...
From Billboard.com:
"According to executives with three of the major labels, whose job duties include projecting first week scans based on early store sales reports, "Graduation" could come in at the 575,000-700,000 range, while "Curtis" is being projected in the 500,000-600,000 range."
UPDATE! (Sept. 16)
Rolling Stone did an exit poll:
" Exit polls are good enough for presidential races, so why not album showdowns? Rock Daily caught up with proud new owners of Graduation and Curtis — and the fence-riders who bought both Kanye West and 50 Cent’s new albums on their release day — as they exited Union Square’s Virgin Records today in New York.
The results after one-hour of polling:
Kanye West’s Graduation: 31 copies 50 Cent’s Curtis: 14 copies"
Allhiphop.com says something entirely different:
"You know all those presales and those pre-orders? They have already started the countdown to these two glorious albums! That’s right, 50 Cent is outselling Kanye West buy about 20,000 units in the preorders. The count is 339,079 for 50 and 319,212 for Kanye. I can honestly say I don’t know when they went on sale over there or anything. I know next week 50 Cent is headed straight to Europe to promote his album. This is bigger than when Meth & Red did “Month of the Man.”"
The truth probably comes from Queens resident Latrice Blakely :
“We all know Kenny Chesney is going to win”
