Last night KNOTORYUS nodded their heads in unison to the sounds of the Cool Kids.
Let's not waste too much words on their opening act, The Carps. I'm sure they're nice guys and their set-up was great: drums, synth, bass and whole lotta punk. (Comedy moment: when the singer shouted 'Who loves Bad Brains?!' and three balding thirty-somethings went 'Woohoo!' by the bar.)
The crowd was basically white guys dressed like A-trak, 14-year olds dressed like an American Apparal catalogue pic and music journos. (Comedy moment two: when we politely declined an interview for the local TV-station, the reporter blurted out: "But this is your chance for one minute of fame!". Ooops. Missed it.)
Cool kids (dance moves: mostly Tektonik-style).
Cool jacket. The Cool Kids knocked 'em out the box, though. A clever mix of eighties and nineties classics and spare beats and bass with one goal in mind: party hard. I can't remember the last time I danced to 2liveCrew or heard an MC rap over a Slick Rick beat without falling short. Well worth the entrance fee of €5, about the equivalent of 2 bags of crisps and a fizzy water.
