Small hopes are something to hold on to, and one of my personal small hopes is that a snippet of the new ‘Grush’ album by µ-Ziq (a.k.a. Mike Paradinas) becomes a core sound on TikTok, launching him into slightly larger cult fandom status and some sort of lasting financial freedom: enough to make sure his Planet Mu label keeps plugging away with underrated releases for its fans (one of those fans happens to be Aphex Twin, by the way). It’s a bit weird and chaotic, sure. But as chaos goes, it’s of the happy variety. If you’re into 90’s era twinkly piano and jittery breakbeats with sad/happy synths, this lovely little electro critter needs to hop into the cubby hole of your streaming playlist straight away.  (Visuals by ID:Mora.)
