Arooj Aftab - Tiny Desk Concert

Arooj Aftab - Tiny Desk Concert

How do you stay in it? How do you not lose touch? The newest Arooj Aftab album “Love In Exile” is -among many other valuable things- an exercise in staying in it. Three musicians (Vijay Iyer, Shahzad Ismaily on piano, bass and moog) listening to each other, giving each other space without ever losing touch. Their Tiny Desk Concert is a patient and heartfelt rendition of the achingly beautiful track “Eyes of the Endless”. Don’t worry about what the lyrics mean. It’s a form of poetry, so the meaning cannot be translated fully anyway. You can just leave the meaning in the words and in the way they are being created, sung, repeated, felt throughout the performance. It means what it means to you as you’re listening. So listen.
