If you had to describe björk in one word, I guess ἄτοπος is a pretty good option. ‘Atopos’ means ‘unusual’, but this first single off the new album Fossera is probably what the fans were expecting/hoping for: strident, wayward beats (courtesy of Gabber Modus Operandi) overgrown with dots and strings of saxophone and lyrics ruminating on how we’re all just bits of nature in the end (more specifically: we’re like mushrooms withering away when they don’t connect). James Merry and Isshehungry are firmly in the creative consultant & make-up seat, the face mask is by Amazing Jiro for Kei Ninomiya.
