Kim Gordon - Sketch Artist

Aside from Sonic Youth being my favourite band when my body was riddled with teenage angst, I have a specific soft spot for Kim Gordon because of her incredible eye for great artists. The Sonic Youth covers introduced me to Gerhard Richter, Richard Kern, Mike Kelley and -especially significant to me- Raymond Pettibon. Even though she’s now in her sixties, she’s releasing her debut album, again with great cover art, which isn’t credited on the label’s website (Matador) so I’m guessing is by the director of the new video for ‘Sketch Artist’: Loretta Fahrenholz.

The video is more of an art piece than a video, with Kim as an ‘Unter’ driver (see what they did there?) blasting away innocent bystanders and enthralling passengers with her block rocking beats.
