Beyoncé is in full ‘The Lion King’ promo mode and the Hive is in a constant state of reeling. Movie premieres and royal photo ops, Twitter header changes, Instagrams that have captions, an actual interview? We’re so fed. Celebrating the July 19 launch of the Beyoncé-produced and curated 14-track soundscape album ‘The Lion King: The Gift’ – which mostly features artists from all over the African continent (and nonpareil star Blue Ivy Carter) – Bey dropped the visual for lead single ‘Spirit’. The soon-to-be-much-awarded track itself is a rousing call to action and the gorgeous video centres around sweeping arid planes, lush waterfalls, bold and monochrome fashions paired with moving group choreography once more created by the great Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui together with JaQuel Knight, Dana Foglia and a powerful cast of international dancers including Nick Coutsier and Josepha Madoki.

Featuring styling by Zerina Akers, the Queen is dripping in pale violet and burnt orange SS19 Valentino couture, graphic black and white custom Tongoro Studio, Déviant La Vie crimson rope lingerie, tufted chartreuse Mark Fast, a sickening cowrie shell look created by Alex Navarro Designs and Laurel DeWitt (the latter of which also made the blue fringe body suit) and an ivory fringe coat by Hyun Mi Nielsen with key make-up looks created by Sir John. Blue Ivy even cleared her schedule and probably waived her appearance fee to join in the beauty. It’s just too much for this poor stan to take!

In her July 2019 Robin Roberts interview (still cannot believe we were directly spoken to), recent three-time Emmy nominee Beyoncé explained: "It was important that we weren't just inspired by Africa but that we actually included and learned from the Mother Land. The concept of the video is to show how god is the painter and natural beauty and nature needs no art direction. It's the beauty of colour, the beauty of melanin, the beauty of tradition.” She truly is the gift. In another quote, Queen B shared: “The spirit of indigenous people and their land is within all of us. We support conservation efforts of these tribes to ensure our precious circle of life.”
