Everything We Know About Solange's Surprise Content Drop

As you might remember, somewhere in October 2018, Solange Piaget Knowles announced a follow-up for her classic album ‘A Seat at the Table’ and back then she said it would drop before the end of the year. I couldn’t care less when artists go past their announced drop dates. It’s art! It takes the amount of time it takes, ok?! I’ll see it when you get there.

But we should’ve known something was up when the youngest Knowles shared an image of her Ib Kamara-styled and Tim Walker-lensed I-D cover story a couple of days ago. Honestly, I thought it had to do with her upcoming festival tour, but it figures that she won’t be touring the same album she was two summers ago. I saw Solange perform ‘A Seat at the Table’ at Pukkelpop, a Belgian festival, and it was one of my favourite shows at a festival to date (and I’ve done quite a few of them).

So, last night, Solange dropped a message on her socials referring everyone to her personal page on BlackPlanet, a social media network that is used mostly by Black Americans.

According to HipHopdx : “BlackPlanet grew to prominence back when AOL was still on dial-up. At one point the site boasted over 20 million registered users and was the fourth most-visited social networking site in America. This was way before Facebook and MySpace was a thing. Golden State Warrior champ Kevin Durant even had a page before he got drafted by the NBA in 2007.”

According to BlackPlanet: “The Worlds largest free African-American online community where Black women and Black men meet to chat, discuss and engage on what matters to us.”

In some of the pictures, you see a very skilled woman pole-dancing and although it could be perceived that this is Solange, it turns out to be the artist Ney.
