Portishead's Geoff Barrow is a goddamn genius. He's not exactly the most prolific artist on the scene, but 2018 seems to be a lucky number for the fans. His recent soundtrack for Annihilation (with Ben Salisbury) was nothing short of brilliant and now his other band Beak > has dropped a krautrock-esque (lots of scrabble points for that genre) instrumental called "Allé Sauvage", played live and shot by Portishead-collaborator John Minton. A new album should be coming soon.
Sidenote: Maybe it's the instrumental "played live" element, maybe it's the krautrock-references, but it does remind me a lot of Soulwax' side project Die Verboten on DEEWEE. Maybe. Or maybe I'm just putting this in because Die Verboten is underrated. Yeah, that's probably it. Still, go check it out, ok?
